Supreme Leader Urges Transformation in Islamic Seminaries

Ayatollah Khamenei the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution met this evening with the members of the High Council of Qom Seminary.
During the meeting, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution said that it is necessary to develop a comprehensive educational, research and tabligh plan for seminaries, further reiterating: "One of the important requirements of Islamic seminaries is to develop a strategic plan."
Ayatollah Khamenei said that planning, setting goals and prioritizing the sciences which are taught in Islamic seminaries is only possible if an outlook is developed for the future.
His Eminence said that it is necessary for the High Council of Qom Seminary to maintain a constant relationship with the honorable marja taqlids and stated: "It is necessary to make use of the views and opinions of young religious scholars."
Ayatollah Khamenei further reiterated that the leadership does not play any role in the decisions which are ratified in the High Council of Qom Seminary.
Ayatollah Khamenei stated that the methods of instruction and education should not be limited in Islamic seminaries and described practical irfan as a necessary factor for seminarians and the clergy.
At the end of his remarks, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution stated that the issue of transformation in Islamic seminaries is an issue which should be seriously pursued.
