The reporter of ISCO electronic journal asked HujjatulIslam Sayyed Sajjad Hussain as to how he evaluated the future of the world. Addressing his question, Kazemi said, "The enemy's actions towards the Muslim nation including Sunnis and Shiites are now very different; we have never seen the enemies insulting Islamic sanctities including the Prophet of Islam as much as they do in recent times. Unfortunately, because of Muslims' thoughts and ideology, they are attacking upon the most sacred and holiest beliefs."

Kazemi said, "The enemies intend by doing all these blasphemous acts to measure the extent of Muslims' reactions and their love for the Holy Prophet (pbuh) and the religion of Islam so that they may know how far the religion of Islam has spread in different societies."

"Fortunately, a great many people in non-Islamic countries have come to the conclusion that no religion in the world has as many programs and plans for man's prosperity and salvation in this world and in the hereafter as Islam does. It is for the same reason that we are witnessing an increasing number of people from different countries getting inclined towards Islam," he added.

"Some think that the Westerners and the people in US and Europe etc. enjoy absolute freedom but in reality real freedom is found only in the religion of Islam. If someone is willing to attain proximity to God and get delivered from worldly desires, he should embrace Islam," he continued

Despite all these brutalities, injustice and barbaric actions against Muslims in different countries, we have never seen a Muslim converting to Christianity and Judaism but we have a list of people from other religions who have converted to the religion of Islam.

Kazemi said, "The people of the world are seeking peace and security and no religion other than Islam can guarantee peace for people. Despite all these brutalities, injustice and barbaric actions against Muslims in different countries, we have never seen a Muslim converting to Christianity and Judaism but we have a list of people from other religions who have converted to the religion of Islam."

He added, "Islam has opened the way for progress and perfection of mankind and the realities of this religion are known to people. Therefore, those who are seeking truth and are in search of it will find it in Islam."

"The Western countries' tactics to harm and weaken Islam have been counterproductive. When those who are not Muslims see that this religion is being insulted, they become curious and willing to know as to what is in the religion of Islam that causes it to be attacked." It is for the same reason that after a research, they are led to the truth."

Sajjad Hussain Kazemi said, "Amongst all the religions and faiths, Islam and the Shiite religion has a comprehensive and perfect program for salvation of mankind."

"If we explain the scientific position of the Ahl al-Bayt and their Sira (conduct) without exaggeration, they will come to the religion of Ahl al-Bayt. Many people from other religions and faiths accept Ahl al-Bayt ideologically and theoretically because the Sunni Imams (leaders) were the disciples of the school of the Ahl al-Bayt, and the Infallibles (a.s.) were solving their scientific enquiries," Kazemi noted.

He said, "Islam has presented a correct and genuine interpretation of Islam which is appealing to mankind and the world. In the present circumstance, the enemies have embarked on ill-propagation against Islam to harm this glorious religion."

Sajjad Hussain said, "Since they are unable to confront Shia through logic and rational argument, they adopt inhuman approaches. The enemies of the school of Ahl al-Bayt want to frighten people through force, intimidation and pressures but despite all of this the people are coming to Islam and embracing it in companies. This is one of the divine graces and a blessing of Hazrat Mahdi and a living proof of the reality of the school of Ahl al-Bayt."

Speaking about the need for unity among Shiites, Kazemi said, "In the present critical juncture, the Shiites should preserve and maintain their unity and the Muslims also should resist against their common enemies, so they should move towards getting united and the pivot for unity in the present time is wilayat-e faqih (governance of the jurist).

The enemies' aggressive actions against Shia originate in their fear of this religion.

When asked about the brutal actions against Shiites in Parachinar and Yemen, Kazemi said, "Parachinar is a city close to the border of Afghanistan. The people of this city are besieged and cannot go out, and if they dare to go out, there are ignorant, violent and stubborn people who stop them. The ways leading to other cities of Pakistan have remained closed thus far and the Shiites are the victims of their beliefs and they travel only for very urgent purposes."

"The prices of goods and groceries are extremely high in Parachinar. For example, if a bag of flour is sold for one thousand rupees in Pakistan, it is sold for eight thousand rupees there in Parachinar. The same is true with other items. However, the people of this region have so far resisted and shall continue to resist as they believe in the school of Ahl al-Bayt; they are ready to be killed but they will not give up their faith.

God willing, they will never give in to the pressures," he added.

He further said, "The Supreme Leader's representative and leader of the Shiites of Pakistan, Sayyed Sajid Ali Naqavi has had meetings so far with Pakistani statesmen about the Shiites critical condition in this city. He has warned that the situation of the Shiites of Pakistan all over the country especially in Parachinar, Deira Ismail Khan and Quetta is not tolerable."

Sajjad Hussain Kazemi said, "The Shiites in Pakistan are not weak but since they do not believe in violating the law, they are seeking a solution to their problem through negotiation. Had we used weapons like them, we would not have reached this stage. We, the Shiites, have the power to reciprocate and do what they are doing but we prefer to act in line with the over all interest of the country."

"In Pakistan, the school of Ahl al-Bayt and the Ja'fari jurisprudence is making the majority; as compared to other schools the Ja'fari school of jurisprudence has the greatest number of devotees,", he said.

Kazemi said, "In Pakistan, a coalition (Muttaheda Majlis Amal) made up of all religious groups has been established. The coalition is intended at creating unity among Muslims, preventing religious abuses, sacrilegious acts and combating colonial powers. Following this decision, Shia and Sunni leaders have been holding joint meetings and the situation has improved with these actions but unfortunately the lackeys of the global colonialism have banned the Ja'fari movement."

Global powers and regional role players have given hand in hand to make the Islamic countries insecure.

Concerning people like Abdul Malek Reigi who have been given refuge in Pakistan, he said, "Abdul Malek Reigi is a criminal figure who has been recently known but there are many people like him in my country. Unfortunately, this situation is not only in the interest of Shiites but it has made the country face with serious challenges. Today, the situation in Pakistan has grown so insecure that if a person goes to a market for shopping, his family is not sure if he would come back alive."

Kazemi said, "Global powers and regional role players have given hand in hand to make the Islamic countries insecure."

This Pakistani writer and researcher said that he was of the view that the only solution to the problem was to do away with differences. "Shiites and Sunnis all together should leave aside their differences. Unfortunately, the Saudi government is the key source behind these differences in the region and in the world. I believe the Islamic Republic of Iran and Saudi Arabia should sit together and negotiate about the said problem so that Muslims may come out of this difficult situation."

"Shiites going to Makkah and Medina face a lot of problems. Never has the situation been so bad as such throughout the history. Therefore, the Islamic countries should detach themselves from the lackeys of the global powers and should not be passive against them," he stressed.

Kazemi said, "All misled groups in the Islamic world have some links with the arrogant powers. The biggest Shiatology center in the world is operating currently in Israel. They have established the center to collect the positive and negative points of Shiites so as to work on those points. In Europe also, many such Islamic studies centers have been set up."

The Religious Authority (Marja'iyah) and Mourning are the factors behind Shia's growth over the history.

Speaking about the role of Shiite religious authorities and mourning for Imam Hussain (a.s.) in establishing Shiite power over the history, Kazemi said, the Imamate the Ahl al-Bayt (a.s.) serves as the continuation of the prophethood and the religious authority and governance of the jurist (wilayat-e faqih) serve as the continuation of Imamate for the people. We have witnessed the effect of wilayat-e faqih during the years after the victory of the Islamic revolution."

"The enemies have targeted the religious authority and mourning for Imam Hussain (a.s.) to weaken Islam and the Shiite religion. In order for them to destroy the essence of mourning for Imam Hussain (a.s.), they have resorted to superstitions and are trying to incite people against the religious authority," he said.

"When people distance themselves from mourning for Imam Hussain (a.s.) and the religious authority, Shi'ism will become weak. Hence, therefore, we must be vigilant and we should have our own plans for mourning ceremonies, so we should expand our relationship with the religious authority," Kazemi stressed.

He said, "America and Europe have not yet realized as to how Imam Khomeini (r.a) changed the whole world through his simple life. For the time being, Imam Khomeini's ideology is being studied in the West and endeavors are made to know how he changed the world."

He continued, "The theory of wilayat-e faqih (governance of the jurist) and its manifestations are a source of pride for the world. We further felt the blessing of wilayat-e faqih during the post-election events which showed how effective and important the role of wilayat-e faqih is. We witnessed how a single speech or a statement helped settle the problem and calm down the situation."

"My country (Pakistan) needs a personality like Imam Khomeini (r.a). Even Sunnis believe that we need someone like Imam Khomeini (r.a)," he said.

When Kazemi was asked about the cause of the divergence among Muslims, he said, "Muslims should respect one another's religious symbols and sanctities. If they do not do so, divergence and differences will arise. Every religion has its own sanctities. If we insult someone false god, he will insult our real God. Respecting others' religious symbols does not mean that we believe in them; rather every religion's symbols are sacred for the religion itself."

Kazemi said, "The chieftains, preachers and prominent personalities of every school should create unity in the society and amongst the people. In their expressions, they should not utter a word that might injure the feelings of the followers of other religions. Muslims should move towards getting united. Every may have his own beliefs and he is not supposed to give it up. We are not actually trying to rectify another religion. We have points in common and also points of differences. As we are respecting the common points, we should also respect the points of differences.

We cannot and should not give up believing in our own specific religious doctrines. If all the religions give up their beliefs which are specific to them, then it would be against the combined consensus and tantamount to desisting from something which is part of the religion. Every school can defend its religion through arguments, proofs and logic but it should not incite others against one another."

Head of Pakistani Students Regional Counselors' Commission expressed disgust at the bitter events of Yemen and misdemeanors against the Shiites of this country. He said that following the collapse of Saddam's regime, Iraq's former Ba'thist forces were used by the Yemeni army and the main cause behind the killings of the Shiites especially the Hawthis was Iraq's Ba'thist Party.

Kazemi said, "Those who were trained by Saddam to kill Shiites are now fighting the Yemeni Shiites. Unfortunately, some Muslim countries like Saudi Arabia, which are supported by America and Israel, are now in the battle scene killing the oppressed Yemeni Shiites."

"Where are the international and so-called humanitarian organizations now? Why aren't the United Nations, Security Council and Europe attaching importance to the rights of the Yemeni people?" Kazemi said.

Speaking about human rights violations in Yemen, Kazemi said, "Unfortunately, today we are witnessing numerous crimes being committed in Yemen. Just as Israel is committing crimes in Gaza and America in other countries, Saudi Arabia and the Yemeni army are now killing the Yemeni Shiites."

He said, "According to some reports, they kill the Shiites in Yemen and then tie their feet to a rope and pull them on roads that are covered with stones."

He said, "Based on reliable reports from Yemen, they kill both Sunni as well Shia Sayyids to annihilate the lineage of Sayyids as well as Shiites with the support of the US and Saudi Arabia."

Kazemi added, "All of us should defend the oppressed and the Islamic countries are greatly responsible for what is going on in Yemen."

"If researchers and experienced politicians study the roots of these crimes, they will come to know that their roots are amongst the Wahhabis of Saudi Arabia. Just as these countries supported the Taliban and Bin Laden, today they are supporting the thought and the mentality that support the killing of Shiites," he said.

In reply to a question concerning the most important theological misgiving, Kazemi said, "Theologically speaking, there are two discussions in Islam which must be studied precisely and carefully and we must also educate people about them. One of them relates to monotheism. The reason behind most of the discrepancies in the Islamic world is that the question concerning monotheism has not been fully solved.

That is why they say that resorting to Hazrat Rasul (the Prophet) and divine saints and visiting graves are shirk (a polytheistic act). The problem originates in the fact that the question of monotheism has not been understood by them properly."

Speaking about bid'ah (innovation) a second theological misgiving, Kazemi said, "Lately, the Wahhabi sect is raising a question concerning bid'ah. They think that whatever did not exist in the time of the Holy Prophet (pbuh) and is now existing is a bid'ah but such type of bid'ah has not been endorsed by the Quran, narrations and traditions. If so, the very existence of such people, as per their saying, is a bid'ah because they did not exist in the time of the Prophet (pbuh) but they are existing now."

"We need to work harder in this regard and we need to help people understand. If we solve these two questions (monotheism and innovation), then many other problems will be automatically solved. During the time of Shaykh Mufid, Sayyid Murtadha and Allamah Hilli, many of these spurious arguments were answered but individuals living in some Islamic countries like Saudi Arabia are receiving wages by spreading such doubts and arguments," he said.

"It is necessary that the specious arguments and misconceptions be answered with proofs and evidence as the youths are not very acquainted with theological issues and some of them are likely to accept the specious arguments. Preachers and clerics should get further in touch with the youths and should answer these spurious arguments in a convincing manner," he further stressed.

Speaking about the situation of his country, Pakistan, he said," Unfortunately, according to religious preachers, the situation of Pakistan is undesirable and there is not a prospective program on the part of the institutions of Pakistan and Iran as well as the Islamic seminary. So far many preachers have been dispatched to Pakistan but the necessary result has not been achieved."

"We must seek the help of specialists because propagatory works have not yet yielded a positive result. If we are going to dispatch preachers to Pakistan in the future, we must teach them the principles of oratory," he said. "There is a great difference between the way the speeches are delivered in Pakistan and the way they are delivered in Iran. In Pakistan, you need to use a special technique to attract people. People do not listen to the speeches as much as they do in Iran. For propagation out of Iran, it is necessary that influential people who use special styles in their speeches should be chosen."

Sayyid Sajjad Hussain Kazemi is a Musavi Sayyid who was born in Chakwal of Pakistan. His lineage reaches Hazrat Ishaq bin Musa Kazem. He is living in a region of Pakistan where there live many Musavi Sayyids.

He said, "There is a very good ground for preaching and promulgating the culture of Ahl al-Bayt. One of the areas that have so far remained safe from the dangers of the notorious extremists is Chakwal and this is because of the Musavi Sayyids who are spread in this region."

Kazemi who is also a Pakistani religious figure said, "After completing my preliminary studies, I started studying religious sciences. Then, it was the "Supervising Council (of the Islamic Seminary)" that was admitting students for Islamic studies. Before the Islamic revolution, those who were interested in learning religious sciences were going to the holy city of Najaf but following Saddam's oppressive and tyrannical policies, Najaf went through a critical condition. After the victory of the Islamic revolution which was in fact a global Islamic revolution, the situation changed and the ground for the presence of the devotees of the Shiite school to study in the holy city of Qom was paved."

He said that when he was a youngster and playing in the neighborhood, even Sunni children used to say that Pakistan needed someone like Imam Khomeini because they had seen that Imam Khomeini was standing against the world arrogance with the motto of "neither the West nor the East", and he had proved to be a man of practice. Late Imam Khomeini was afraid of no one except the Almighty God.

He continued, "After getting the metric certificate, I went to a Shiite seminary in Islamabad where I started studying Islamic sciences in Jame'ah Ahl-Bayt under the supervision of Allamah Shaykh Mohsen Ali Najafi, one of the students of Muhammad Baqir al-Sadr. I studied there for three years and then I was admitted in Al-Mustafa International University where upon I traveled to Iran and continued my studies in Hojjatiyah School."

"I studied Makasib (a book on jurisprudence) with Ayatollah Payani, Rasail and Kefayah with E'temadi and the Kharij lessons of Ilm al-Usul (legal theories) with grand Ayatollah Wahid Khurasani and the Kharij lessons of Fiqh (jurisprudence) with grand Ayatollah Mirza Jawad Tabrizi, grand Ayatollah Fazel Lankarani and grand Ayatollah Bahjat," he added.

"My teacher, Gulpaigani said to Ayatollah Subhani that some students were very qualified and eligible. He appealed him to allow them to study in Imam Sadiq University despite their being non-Iranians. Then they allowed us to be the informal students of Imam Sadiq University on the condition that we should not have benefited from the facilities given to formal and bona fide students. During the first term when the informal students took tests, they achieved the highest marks and when this was reported to Ayatollah Subhani, he ordered the individuals in charge to accept them as formal students. Since there exist a lot specious arguments and misconceptions in Pakistan about Shia, I wrote my thesis in this regard," Kazemi said.

He said, "I studied in Pakistan seminaries for four years. Then I came to Iran where I studied theology, jurisprudence, legal theories (usul) and many other seminary books. I have also been teaching them in some schools. After sometimes I became the head of Research Commission for Regional Counselors in Al-Mustafa International University. In this commission, there were students from different nationalities and countries like Iraq, Syria and Pakistan etc."

In regards to his coming to Iran and studying in Qom, he said, "I came to Iran to mend myself and then to return to my country to help the people and Shiites of Pakistan."

"I used to cooperate with the Center for Answering Religious Questions affiliated to Islamic Sciences and Culture Academy. We also established an Islamic studies center under the auspices of the representative of the Supreme Leader and leader of the Shiites of Pakistan. I was in charge of the center for sometimes. This center is responsible for responding to religious questions in Urdu," he added.

Speaking about his own written works, Kazemi said, "I have written many books including Ayat al-Tathir (Verse of Purification), Answers to Spurious Arguments, Ayat al-Mubahalah (Verse of Malediction), Ayat al-Mawaddah (the Verse of Love), Hadith Thaqalayn, Wahy (revelation), Monotheism in Creation, the Peace Treaty of Imam Hasan (a.s.)."

Kazemi has also translated "Quran and Pluralism", "Quran and Secularism" and "Fiqh versus Custom".
